After being named a "One Man Band To Watch in 2010" by Indie Rock Cafe, multi-instrumentalist ALEX WALKER has teamed up with drummer Elias Diaz V (GALAXY OF TAR) to release the blazing new single, For Free (Lapdance Academy).

In an attempt to avoid the brutal cold of another Brooklyn winter, WALKER packed up his homemade Telecaster last September and booked a round-trip flight for Los Angeles. With a string of successful dates opening for GROUPLOVE (Atlantic Records) and work as the touring bassist for FAMILY OF THE YEAR, however, WALKER shows no sign of using his return-ticket anytime soon.

Recorded in the hall of a former church, For Free captures the ethos of modern day power-duos like THE BLACK KEYS and DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 as reverb-drenched guitars drape themselves over thunderous and hypnotic drumming. His new surroundings in sunny SoCal and the ethos of Lapdance Academy (a digital imprint that makes all of their albums available for complimentary download) echo loudly in lyrics like, "Whether you like it or not / Mother Nature got us got / And you know it's all good / When you move up out from under your 'hood / And you give it all away for free." It's an inspirational mantra of optimism, fittingly captured in a retired "house of God."
